Bachelor's in Creative Indutries (applied fashion)
My graduate collection, Sidhe/her drew inspiration from my Irish-Celtic heritage and the many folklores of 'Aífe' (this is the traditional spelling of my name).
Appearing in each cycle of Irish mythology: Mythological, Ulster, and Fenian, charachters names Aife appear in many forms.
There was a piece of each of their stories that connected them. Despite their prestige or valour, the autonomy over their relationships and bodies is constantly undermined to serve traditions and political interests.
This collection was a reflection on my experience of femininity as a genderqueer person, and the predetermined violence that is inflicted on me through systems of misogyny. Through my own story, and the stories of my ancestors I intended to find a sense of liberation, and pay homage to feminine strength.
